Despite U.N. Call For Cease-Fire, Strikes Continue On Damascus Suburb

Syrian children receive treatment at a makeshift clinic after a suspected chemical attack on the rebel-held village of al-Shifuniyah, in the Eastern Ghouta region on the outskirts of the capital Damascus, late on Sunday. A child died and at least 13 other people suffered breathing difficulties after an attack on the besieged Syrian rebel enclave, a medic and a monitor said.

Eastern Ghouta, a rebel-held area home to more than 350,000 people, has suffered a barrage of attacks for days, and civilian deaths are continuing. Now Russia is calling for a “humanitarian corridor.”
