Tesla boss Musk weighs go-private deal for electric car makerControversial Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said Tuesday he was considering taking the company private, sending shares sharply higher in anticipation of a big premium. Going private would take the electric car maker out of the quarterly reporting cycle making it “free from as much distraction and short-term thinking as possible,” Musk said in a blog post. Shares surged 11 percent to $379.57 at the closing bell after being suspended for about 90 minutes following a series of Musk statements on Twitter in which he initially floated the idea of going private.

CBS weighs Moonves suspension over assault claims: reportCBS directors are weighing whether chairman and chief executive Leslie Moonves should step aside as the US television network investigates claims he sexually harassed women, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. The CBS board is expected to choose a special committee that would oversee the probe, which will include an examination of the company’s workplace culture, people familiar with the matter told the Journal. Board members meet via conference call on Monday.

The arguments before the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston marked the latest instance in which a federal appeals court has weighed the extent the Constitution’s Second Amendment protects the right to carry firearms outside of a person’s home. Gun-rights activists hope that appellate court rulings prompt the U.S. Supreme Court to take up its first major gun rights case since 2010.
